We Start Small, on Purpose
Most people expect to start reading from the beginning of the Mushaf. We don’t.
We start with the shortest Surahs of Juz Amma and work backwards. Here’s why:

One Ayah, One Flowing Line
The problem we fix: students reading a word or two, stopping, then starting
again breaking the ayah apart instead of flowing through it.
Short ayaat (roughly a line): we train students to read the whole thing in one breath. It’s hard at first – the muscles simply aren’t trained yet. With regular practice and the teacher’s reminders, most students get there, and the jump in fluency is genuinely noticeable.
Longer ayaat: one breath usually isn’t realistic and that’s fine. We teach students to break it into 2–4 parts, using the proper rules of waqf to choose exactly where to stop. When resuming, we go back one word before the stopping point never from a random place mid-flow.

The Mistake Almost Every Student Makes
Stretching out short vowel sounds (zabar, zair, paish) too long while reading — we see this in effectively 100% of students at this stage.

It’s so common, we tell students about it in advance and most still do it anyway at first. Completely normal.
It’s exactly why real-time correction matters: this isn’t something a student notices on their own. A live teacher catches it, again and again, until it’s fixed for good.
Other common corrections at this stage: forgetting a learned Tajweed rule mid-flow, or dropping a letter’s correct articulation without realising it.
